Transition Instructions
Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Helped with Bladder Stones

Well, I can not comment on the taste, but I can attest to the heathy aspect. My dog is a 13 year old lab, and developed bladder stones. Our vet suggested, before surgery, to try this food. She has been on for 2 weeks (there is also a similar treat product), and it was able to shrink the stones enough, that she was able to pass them naturally. The surgery is now on hold, pending her next x-ray in a month, but it looks like this food did the trick. The only issue, is that I do believe, it needs a stronger flavor, as she doesn't eat it as quickly, as her old food. Hope this helps…

I think this is the answer for my prayer

Bruno has calcium stones in his bladder. I can't afford the surgery to remove them. Since he has started on this food- he has passed 8 stones.This will help to prevent the formation of new stones. My old man is back to his silly self.

Didn't work for my dog

I do love and trust Hill's products, so I ordered this for my 13+ year old Pomeranian who recently suffered an episode of severe pancreatitis which resulted, unfortunately, in kidney failure. As a result of her illness, she is frequently nauseous and quite picky with her food. I ordered this in an attempt to find a low-fat diet she would eat, and she refused to eat it. My younger male Pomeranian was interested in this, so I think it would work well for an otherwise healthy dog who needs a low-fat prescription diet for gastrointestinal issues. It just didn't work for my dog in my specific situation.

Nice product but Amazing customer service

Switched my dog from the Royal Canin version to this since we could hardly ever find Royal. She likes it just as much and it looks almost the same so was an easy transition. Customer service-wise, we got a delivery notice but it didn't get delivered, so I called fedex to file a claim and then chewy. The chewy rep was extremely helpful, advised I didn't need to call fedex, chewy would take care of that piece on my behalf, and she immediately placed a replacement order to make sure my dog Beesly's food got there ASAP while they figured out the mishap. She was awesome!

My dog was diagnosed with bladder stones. She was put on this food so that her urine would be more acidic to dissolve the stones. After a few months, the stones were gone. She likes the food and eats it twice a day without issues. Also, Chewy has very fast shipping and the food arrived very quickly. Much much quicker than my vet office. Thanks Chewy!

My older pup has eaten the regular formula of C/D for years but always waited for hours to eat it from her bowl in hopes of getting something more satisfying. But after our vet recommended she shed a few pounds, we decided to give c/d+metabolic a try. Not only did our dog devour the new food immediately from her bowl, but she later managed to tear through the large bag to help herself to even more. Apparently, she thinks the metabolic formula tastes great!
